The Global Classroom is a multi-award winning 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization that was founded in 1992 and is run entirely by volunteers. We are a unique organization supported entirely by donations from private individuals who believe in our mission. We focus on environmental education while actively participating in the preservation and enhancement of the eco-systems in which we travel.

Acting on a global scale, The Global Classroom supports a variety of international trips, internships and volunteer positions for teens and university students with an emphasis on conservation, cross-cultural awareness, low impact travel and deep personal growth.

Our projects directly benefit the earth as well as the remote communities in which we travel. Global Classroom volunteers have distributed several tons of medical and school supplies, children’s clothing, food and building materials and continue to support restoration projects and disaster relief programs in remote villages around the globe. Our goal is to encourage participants to contribute to the world in a positive way, gain a greater understanding of the natural world around them while discovering and pursuing their true calling. We believe this is a powerful tool in helping to create a stronger person and a healthier planet. In our experience, when people make a deep connection to the natural world, they are far more likely to care about it. An excellent example of this is the Aula Global Biological Reserve, a 700 acre gem of Costa Rican rain forest purchased and protected by thousands of participants and supporters of The Global Classroom.
