Colin Garland, Raven Adventures founder and lead guide, has over 20 years of experience tracking big cats, recording Bellbirds and photographing Quetzals. His extensive international travel (in over 50 countries) means you are sure to have a trip full of animal sightings, cross cultural experiences and unique educational moments. It has always been our goal at Raven Adventures to introduce people to the wonders of the natural world while giving something back to the local communities in which we travel. Our Costa Rica Adventure trip allows you the opportunity to experience the local culture and people, as well as the wilds of the forests A special component of your trip will be an exclusive stay at a reserve called Aula Global, which is owned by our partner organization, The Global Classroom. Located in the mountainous region of Monteverde, Aula Global is a hidden gem. Here you will have an opportunity to experience the rain forest by day as well as by night. Here you can wake to the sound of Howler monkeys and eat your breakfast with binoculars in hand, as Aula Global has some of the best birding in Costa Rica. Your days can be spent with us exploring some of the most pristine old growth forest left in Costa Rica or relaxing at the research station located well off the tourist track. Our knowledgeable guides will teach you about the mysteries of the rain forest as we hike along our private trails. For the more adventurous in the group, we offer off-trail excursions deeper into untouched forest. On clear nights we can even offer you a spectacular view of Arenal Volcano with its glowing eruptions. Aula Global is a unique reserve. To ensure a one of a kind, low impact trip for our guests, we follow many eco-friendly rules. Aula Global is visited by reservation only and we do not allow more than 20 people within the reserve on any given day. We recycle, compost or carry out all waste. Our research station is run entirely by solar power. We use only composting toilets and even our wash water is composted. Nothing goes into the soil at Aula Global. When you join a Raven Adventures trip you can rest assured you are directly supporting meaningful conservation efforts in Costa Rica. Your trip fees help the Global Classroom project with reforestation efforts, habitat preservation and community service projects.
